Put the Guns Down!

Chicago tarnishes their image of sightseeing and great food by participating in a shoot down show down, which I thought was a thing in the past, but this past Memorial day painted a realistic picture.  I really thought we were moving forward after the unity of the NATO summit.... but I see guns still have a major influence on our nation!  Read more on the weekend shootings at Chicago Sun Times website.... 

Image Review of the week!!!

Image doesn't just capture your clothing, it starts from your head down to your toes.... it's how you carry yourself, how you treat one another and most importantly how you treat yourself!  With that said, I've decided to do my weekly review on hair, because its (in many cases) the first thing people see.  It tells others how your hygiene is and how you value yourself... so below is my Image Review on a Carol's Daughter product I now can't go without, well at least until I try some of her other products :)




This week I decided to wash my hair and loved this product so much I had to write an Image Review! Black Vanilla by Carol's Daughter is simply the best!  I have wavy, fine hair and my hair is now super soft!  I would highly recommend getting this product (the whole kit) and can't wait to try more products by Carol's Daughter...... till we meet again!

Emerging celebrities are finding ways to cash in on this weaving empire.... People like LisaRaye and now, coming soon, Angela Simmons are now using their flawless hair tips to cap in on the world of weave..... They have proven that image and branding goes far beyond just having a pretty face and are willing to share it with their fans and the world!

The Eye is in the Beholder!!!!

When you look in the mirror what do you see?  Better yet, when you look at others what do you see?  Do you see skin color, race or gender or do you see what's on the inside of that person? For this 7 year old image was captured by how she felt (a happy little girl, with vision), not by the color of her skin.  Who is she? A light brown haired, green eyed little girl with joy in her heart...... What she drew? A brown skinned girl, with black hair... The one thing these images have in common? Happiness and the right to embrace it!  So when checking your image in the mirror, be sure you're focusing on the inner you, and allow your outer you the right to be different!

Social Me This... Social Me That!

There's no denying it, social media is everywhere.... you could ignore it and it'll just bite you in the butt! The clutter of social media is no better than the clutter of advertisement gone wrong.  And this too plays a big part in the way we view our fellow peers..... Our image is viewed by our employers, friends and even those we hope to land a romantic relationship with.  So why is it that we feel the need to reveal our whole self to a partial society, partial because they only capture a glimpse of who you really are?  You would think that we would care enough about our image to want to protect it from the world of judgment .  Hey, I've been there..... that moment when you want to vent, that opportunity to attempt to find that special someone or perhaps you just want the chance to prove to people that you really are cool enough to chug a whole bottle of alcohol down with one gulp.  But, lets face it... when we finally come to reality we have only realized the true damage we've caused that could have been avoided if we would have took the time to think about how important our image is, and how not to sacrifice it to a viral audience.  I mean out of the 5,000 friends or followers you have how many of them are your real friends?  How many of them really care about you, cry with you.... talk to you? So before you post make sure it's something you won't live to regret!

Baby Branding.....

Now don't get me wrong.... I love Alicia Keys but this pic of her baby just says so much to me when it comes to image.  If this was his (her child's) idea then that would be different, but I don't think a bandana was in his mind when it came to going out with his parents.  So this leads me to believe that his parents decided to make a branding mockery out of him....smh.  My 3'T's (Totally Toya's Take).... children learn identity at a very young age and it starts w/ the parents, that being said what parent would purposely allow their child to look like a thug (in the eyes of the on looker)? I mean really do we really need to put on a bandana and mismatched shoes to prove your child is a child celebrity? Let's try to set an example for the next generation...... Your image depends on it!
